The four suspects accused of the brutal attack on the Crocus concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow appeared in court with visible signs of violence. Despite Russian authorities not confirming a direct link between the attackers and the Islamic State, it is reported that the group claimed responsibility for the attack. The suspects, all Tajik nationals living in Russia, are facing charges of terrorism and potential life imprisonment.

The detainees appeared in court emaciated and in poor physical condition, with interpreters present as two of them did not speak Russian. One of the suspects, Muhammadsobir Fayzov, was brought to court in a wheelchair and was unable to speak or open his eyes. Another, Shamsidin Fariduni, was visibly beaten and swollen when he entered the courtroom. A third suspect, Rachabalizoda Saidakrami Murodal, had a bandage covering the right side of his head while the fourth, Dalerjon Mirzoev, appeared with injuries to his face.

Alleged details of the suspects’ activities before the attack have been circulating in the media, including claims of torture and coercion. The suspects have given varying statements to authorities admitting involvement in the attack. President Putin suggested that there may have been support from Ukraine but concrete details have not been provided yet.
