On March 26, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya and Islamic Jihad leader Ziyad al-Nahala met with Iranian officials in Tehran. Haniyya, who was born on January 29, 1963 in the Shaati Palestinian refugee camp in Gaza, is a founding member of Hamas and has been its head since 2017. He previously served as the government leader of Gaza following the assassinations of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and Abd al-Aziz Rantisi. Al-Nahala, born in Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip in 1953, is a longtime militant with a history of involvement in terrorist activities. He was released from prison in 1985 and joined Islamic Jihad before becoming its Secretary General in 2018. Both leaders are considered wanted terrorists by US authorities, and there is a reward for information leading to their capture.
